Groundation jest zespołem grającym roots reggae, nie kryjącym swoich jazzowych fascynacji. Zadebiutował albumem Each one teach one w 2001 roku. Zespół powstał w Kalifornii jesienią 1998 roku z inicjatywy Marcusa Urani, Ryana Newmana i Harrisona Stafforda. W hołdzie Bobowi Marleyowi zagrali koncert Tribute To Marley.
